The Peja Pass allows passage from Theth to Guci (today in Montenegro). This pass is nestled in the heart of the Albanian Alps and offers a gateway from the Western part of the Alps to the Jezercë Group in the East. It stands as the widest passage in the Albanian Alps, bridging the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea.On the southern side, the terrain is steep, descending over the Shala Valley, with a zigzagging road clinging almost vertically to a cliff. On the northern side, the landscape is less rugged, featuring a lake about 75 meters deep known as Lake Peja. Until the 20th century, Peja Pass held significant importance as it allowed passage from Guci to Peja, becoming a revered route.Peja Pass also serves as a starting point for the Jezercë Mountains in the South-East, the highest peaks in the entire Dinaric Alps, including the Albanian part. It boasts several mountain ranges and some small lakes in the region, although water sources are scarce. The road over the Pass is one of the remote trails in the Balkan Peaks, exploring the mountainous regions of Kosovo, Montenegro, and Albania.
